Choosing the Right Oil
From essential oils to mass produced cooking oil, the choices are endless. Truly we have everything at our fingertips. The options can quickly overwhelm! Here is a short list of the lunar body oils we make in small batches. These oils are never subjected to heat, and are always organic, ensuring a pure product.
-Arnica- Derived from the petals of the Arnica Montana Flower, a flowering herb, which is part of the sunflower (Asteraceae) family. It contains anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. This is an excellent oil for massage-relieving muscle soreness (Myalgia), and joint pain, especially post-workout. It is an excellent choice for facial oil. It is also used in post-surgical procedures to reduce swelling, bruising, and is used to treat burns.
-Hibiscus- Infused from the petals of the Red Hibiscus flower. Antibacterial, intense antioxidant and moisturizing properties makes it a great treatment for the entire body. A little bit goes a long way. This product can be used to reduce new scar tissue, encourage cell turnover and help with hair damage.
-Dandelion- Derived from the petals of the dandelion blossom. It is most noted for its anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe skin irritations and dry skin. Helps to heal cuts, burns, bug bites, and diaper rash. Lastly, it protects against UVB (or cellular aging).
-Calendula- Infused from the petals of marigold flowers. It is anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial. This oil is very versatile and can be applied to a host of skin conditions. It is especially noted to soothe skin affected by eczema. From bug bites, to sunburns, to acne and diaper rash, this oil truly is a staple and especially good to have in first-aid kits.
-Fireweed- A perennial member of the evening primrose family. Fireweed oil is infused from the petals of wild-harvested Fireweed. Rich in antioxidants and antibacterial molecules it helps fight the bacterium responsible for acne. Typically used for pain, swelling, fevers, tumors, wounds, and enlarged prostate.
Some things to consider:
If an allergy to ragweed, daisies, marigolds, or flowers in the Asteraceae family is present it’s best to skip these types of oils as they could lead to an allergic reaction.
If pregnant or breast-feeding, work with your provider before using any oil, not just these. If you are not sure which oils you need, purchase a smaller size or a sample pack.
To prevent mold from occurring we do not place flowers or other dried material in these oils, as we do not use synthetic preservatives. It is a pretty look in the bottle, but it significantly shortens the lifespan of the oil and isn’t safe.
These specific oils are intended to help restore the skin’s natural barrier, not clog or do further damage. This is why they are made without harmful, and pore-clogging ingredients. Further details are available for each item on our website.
